Resting isn’t easy for some.
It can take alot of mental space to practice doing nothing.
Especially when you feel you could be doing something “more productive”. It is important to remember that taking a rest day(s) is OKAY!
You are allowed to take time to do absolutely nothing.
Occasionally when I sit to rest, I find myself thinking about what I could be doing, or what I should do next. Most of the time the task I’m thinking of isn’t in the “resting” category.
And so the battle begins.
Should I get up and do the thing so then I can rest? Or should I attempt to ignore said thing and continue nothing. Now I’ve thought of the thing so it’s obsessive material.
Most of the time the first wins. Only now I’m stuck in a cycle, because while doing the thing I found another thing that needs to be done. Exhausting.
I get stuck in other cycles too. Cleaning up one mess and another is being made. Over and over again. Until I say to myself why even bother.
This is why doing nothing is an art. It takes practice, time to perfect, and strangely enough, discipline.
Take time for yourself today!

Oddly enough, this came almost synchronistically. I’ve been speaking a lot lately about how I’ve personally just been going and going and not allowing myself REST and RELAXATION. Maybe I should’ve made a Tiktok about it lol. 🤔 I digress… with my daily responsibilities it often seems hard to fit any R&R in my day. So I find my weekends being that time, but then just like you I see all the house hold things, personal business things that need to get done. And I’m like WTF! I was explaining to Jazz the other day and my sister yesterday that on Saturday I slept 9 hours straight and the average person would say I should be well rested but in reality I haven’t truly rested in the last month and some change so that ONE time of sleeping a full night isn’t enough… it was just the start of the catch-up from middle of January! 🤣
The more I go and go, and the older I get, the more R&R is super important for me otherwise Im not my best and can’t operate in my highest to even fulfill my daily responsibilities or even leisure, well because a bitch a MF TIRED!
Perfectly amazing post, keep ‘em coming! I love you to infinity!

Loved this post! I am absolutely one of those people that has a very difficult time not doing anything. I feel like we are programmed to always be productive but sometimes we just need to do nothing and relax for a bit. It’s most definitely an art that we have to learn. I am taking small steps and trying to take breaks where I do nothing for a little bit and just relax and it’s getting easier.
